Bujinkan Taijutsu for the Phoenix Valley
We are not a studio or gym. We follow the rules and protocols set forth by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi Soke (Grand Master) and our practices are the same as those of the Hombu Dojo in Noda Japan. Formal manners, ranks, and practices are observed at all times. There is no sport application of this art. We do real training, for real life!
Some things are worth living, fighting, dying, and killing for. We are one of the last true living warrior traditions in the world today. We practice in order to be of greater service to our families, neighbors, and nation. We are Husbands, Wives, Families, Law Enforcement Officers, Doctors, Soldiers, Nurses; good to the core, and we do not quit! If this sounds like you, or like who you want to become... You have come to the right place!
Shidoshi Coomes has trained in the Bujinkan Yamaneko Dojo since 2004. She is the personal student of Dai Shihan Jeffrey Prather, who is himself the personal student of Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi Soke. She currently holds the rank of ryokudan (6th degree black belt) in the martial art. Sensei Coomes is a certified Lead Instructor teaching "Female FightBack" and "Safe Kids" courses as well as American Heart Association Courses up through ACLS. She holds a Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Arizona. Professor Coomes now teaches nursing students in preparation for their BSN, focusing on critical care nursing education. Additionally she serves as a Healer and Mentor through Christ Connection Chaplaincy a 501C3. She also holds a Bachelors Degree in Art History and Studio Art from New Mexico State University.
